Just now read this news in Economic Times that Infosys will train 100 Software Engineers from SC/STs list of whose will be provided by the Ministry with an expenditure of 1.36 crores!!!
Not sure of what is the motive behind this step by the Software Giant but the action proves one unstated point... it proves that the engineers from SC/STs lack the basic engineering skills and need special training of six months... This despite the fact that the list of 100 such engineers cud b d top notch amongst SC/ST quota... Does this shows that an engineer frm SC/ST quota takes twice the amount to learn things which a normal engineer takes (3 months regular training)... If they are Comp Engg, it is even more shame... So shall we have double the period of education for Sc/ST...
But such move will force other private institutions to take similar step and pacify the protets... There is no doubt that you dont need much skills once you are selected into infosys... Ctrl+C Ctrl+V... So definately they are going to clear the training... But this move will affect areas where specialization is needed.. areas of research... areas of medical...
I am sad to say but such a move was not expected from a company which is a Brand name in itself... which is respected throughout the world... which has a name in every household... unless there is some other... Infosys should have taken a step and set up a primary school especially for SC/STs rather than spendin cool 1.36 crores on this... That would have helped better....
Just hope that there could be some hidden motive in this to make Central Ministry realize their mistake... Else we all will regret soon :(

Reservation?
Reservation... This topic has surfaced again and as of now this is the hot topic of discussion.... heard that large scale protests are being organized against the proposal to reserve seats in highly prestigious IITs and IIMs.... the institutes which are face of Indian intellectual to the world... I and every other person atleast 2 requests a day for joining a community or signing a petition... Also herad that people have started to sit on hunger strikes all over the country...
But Is this of any use? So many innocnet souls were lost during mandal commission in 1989... but still the bill was passed... it did not had any effect on the political society of India... So which is reason why these lawmakes dont listen to protests from we people... If we look deeply, there is one simple reason.. votebank... Despite constituting majority of population, our vote share is dismal... So which effectively means there is noone to listen to us.... Why should they listen when they are not going to get anything from us... We will keep on protesting like this for days but we cant take out time to vote one day in 5 years... this is the biggest power we have and then these silly and dumb(though they r intelligent enuf to ignore us) politicians will make sure that all decisions are kept taking us in mind... and so such stupid bills are put on table for discussion...

Expectations
How often we expect things in our life... We expect our friend to give a call... we expect a good salary hike... we expect some appreciation mail from client... we expect some gift from company every now and than... we expect people close to us to do things for us... if we do some good for anyone, we expect them to reciprocate the same...

Newton's laws in Software...
Today's mantra by 1008 Antaryami Topi waale Baba (registered trademark)
Now we all know about the great Scientist Mr. Newton who gave us 3 laws of motion... When I analysed them deeply, I figured out that those laws hold true in software field too... I hope someone recognize my contribution and give me Nobel Award for this... So dear friends, here i present before you the 3 laws of Software:
1. Any software application will continue to work smoothly till you touch it. Never try to improve upon any application which has been working smoothly. You will never succeed and you will end up degrading it...
2. The amount of bugs and degrading depends on the level of improvements planned... If you want to improve performance drastically, the application will give you severe headaches... End result will be more drastic...
3. To every change planned, there will be equal number of bugs introduced...
Hope you will understand these mantras and will never try to take up any improvement activity in any application which is working in whichever way...
-Janhit main jaari... apne sab jaan pehchaan waalon main ye soochna faila dijiye...

Main aur Meri Tanhai
tanhai, my sweetheart... am again with you... for how long I could be far away from you... for how long I can avoid you... for how long can I resist you... I have to finally give up again, for the umpteenth time... I tried everything to keep myself busy... joined health club... tried my hand at guitar... Chirkutting most of the time of the day... bugging other team members whenever I am free... or chatting on yahoo.... or if nothing else i write a blog... most of the days i dont get time even to breathe, but I dont know how somehow you find ways to come near me... Again I am feeling some emptiness in my life... a feeling where there is no purpose of life... feeling when you thing you are alone in this world... I hate to love this feeling... I dont know how to get rid of you...
But let me also tell you one thing... I will again desert you... You cant be in touch with me for long... Somehow I will manage to throw you out... You also know this is a never ending battle... kabhi tum.. kabhi main... tab tak hum aur tum aapas main baatein karenge... guzre din yaad karenge... :)

Will miss ya...
...Sanhita... today came to know from a friend that she has met with a tragic accident in Chennai and has succumbed to injuries... She was one of the few people who has made my Infy training at Bhubaneswar memorable... her fun loving and carefree attitude... chit chats during the day... enjoing coffee every morning... still remember the Diwali we all celebrated together at BBSR... she was the one who did 'pooja' at my place... Though the interaction with her was not much after the postings but we did have chats at times and call each other on special occassions and festivals... her absence will definitely be felt... will miss ya Sanhita... May her soul rest in peace...

For lazy bums... thought of the day
Today's mantra by 1008 Topi waale baba (registered trademark)
Now this post is for the lazy guys (gals also included) like me who like to achieve things in life but dont want to work hard to get them... Now people dont get disheartened whenever things seem to be going higher than what you can achieve... Me also used to get depressed untill I read Newton's Law on gravity... A great physicist who invented gravity and a law when he was hit by an falling apple... Its another matter sometimes I think of making a suit out of it... then I will have a lawsuit... Now dont tell me that I am digressing from topic.. how can we not discuss about Newton who is my inspiration for achieving things...
Now he said or wrote or told that any thing which goes up will definitely come down... This is called Newton's law of gravity... So I also believe that if I would like to get a thing and it seems to go up my range, I just wait n watch... coz my guru cant be wrong and it will come down.. Once it comes down, the you can grab it... So why to spend that extra effort on trying for that.. instead relax and spend time in doing quality work like sleeping, snoring, day dreaming... So dudes and dudesses, just chillax... you will get what you want... just give it a time...

Kandisa
Yes... You guessed it right... This is about Indian Ocean, India's biggest and most widely known band... I first heard songs from this band's album 'Kandisa' at a friend's place... but after that day I became a fan of this band... Would you believe me if I say I used to listen to this single song 'Kandisa' in office for days.. Some people call me crazy... One thing I like about this band is that they put stress on music... infact most of the songs you will find are without much lyrics... And they present a perfect blend between modern music and sufi music of past... Or in other words a fusion band...
I came to know on Orkut that this band is performing live in NYC... I booked the tickets... And I was there with some friends... It was in a restaurant cum bar and some guys came up with idea of sitting on the floor... so all followed suit and there all were sitting on the floor in NYC... reminded me of india wen i used to go for listenin to pravachans.. :)
The band started with a prayer om sahanaavavatu, sahanau bhunaktu.... beautifully sung by Asheem... Infact his voice hits you at mind... You are just lost in the music... searching for yourself... I was sitting on the chair but soon I find myself joining the people sitting on the floor... Then there was a song on Shiva's Tandav... Infact I get to know the meaning behind most of the songs at concert only... Then Jhini Jhini... Ma rewa... Hille Le... Leaving Home (Tum tum nana.. tum nana)... All were presented with perfect blend.. Then in between there was a jugalbandi between flute by Amit and tabla by Asheem... sometimes between Guitar by Sushmit and flute....
And how can I not mention the song Boll Weavil presented in a unique way, so different from the album... Asheem was using Rahul's electric guitar as tabla... and the sound of it... Must say it was the best performance of the day... Each one was dancing(of course while sitting) and swaying to the tunes.... The energy which the band exudes in presentation is tremendous...
After the break there was the song from Black friday... Bandeh... This song touches you at heart.. there is a force in Rahul's voice which strikes you at , you know where... And how can the show be complete without the 'Kandisa'... song which made them famous... I got to know the origins of the song... Thats another thing, I still dont understand the language it is sung in... :D.... And that was the last performance of the day....
All in all a wonderful concert and live performance... If you haven't listened to this band, I recommend you to listen atleast once to the songs... Especially the songs Kandisa, Bandeh and Ma Rewa.... you wont be disappointed... :)

HaDtAaL !!!
There are no water bottles in Office.. Strike kar do... Salary is not good... Hatdaal kar do... Clinet is not providing basic amenities... Lets go on Strike... then we will see who manages their systems... haha... thats what my first response is whenever i see something reasonable which is not happenning... haha.. just kiddin... but yeah that what I say frequently... I was wondering about the roots of this term in my life... yeah.. it was in college... during my engineering days... just joined the college... and few things happenned and students agreed to go for a strike... so that was my first experience with HADTAAL... yaani ki 'tool down'... so just sitting outside college and doing nothing... being a new college, management intervened and few small demands were met... hehe... you know now what it will lead to...
Next semester... were not interested in exams... few had to go home for vacations... so result... Strike... hehe... ended without much fuss but our purpose was fulfilled... Then Semester after semester, we used to have atleast one strike... Once it went 2 long... we also did some naarebaazi... walking 1 km shoutin against college management and our college was talk of town... yippie.. we were famous... Cause of Strike was always decided after going on 'hadtaal'... Anyways we always had 2-3 issues which management never agreed to... which used to be at top,...
Though wasnt a frontrunner.... but always used to support strike... atleast only then we mechies used to have some work...we always used to njoi sitting outside college... sippin tea ... munching garam garam samosas... go for movies... used to be fun... sometimes management agrees to our demands ... sometimes we had management giving us dhamki about sessional marks.. some students used to walk out but then it used to be more fun discussin their loyalties... Best Demand met was that we were able to have college working days reduced to 4 in a week... atleast for final year students...And our juniors also used to enjoi it a lot... even now when I meet any, the first thing they say is that we miss you because now there are no more 'HADTAALS' in college...
so whenever someone says that we should be provided this facility, i say 'chalo strike karte hai'... :D... currently i am looking for someone who is ready to sit on Bhookh Hadtaal... then we might take up some important cause.. that we will decide once we have an appropriate resource... We are even thinking of outsourcing this as per the Industry trend...
If you are interested in above post, kindly send your detailed resume at the address given nowhere... Experienced resource will be given preference... yaani ki khana bhi kaho and strike pe bhi ho, iska experience hona chahiye... :P

15 Park Avenue
Just the other day I was reading a blog by a friend on 'Rape' and it reminded me of the movie 15 Park Avenue. The movie was not interesting... It was never intended to be... But there was something in that which kept you glued to your seat... It was slow paced with no events happenning... But while watchin it, you will feel something is soon going to happen...
Konkana Sen, of whom i became a fan after watchin Page 3, acted superbly, nah this word wil undermine her effort... she portrayed the character very efficiently... A girl who did things only to make her lover happy was raped by few goons... she went to cover news and what she got in return... for what.. just to establish supremacy... of man over woman... what kind of tactics are these... while watching the movie, i was feeling ashamed of being a man... is this how we are supposed to show supremacy... i felt that this is the job of a coward who cant beat a woman in the game... in life... will forcefully having sex puts us higher? Why dont we understand it ruins the life... not one... not 2... but many lives... In the movie, other than Konkana, her mother.. her fiance... her sister... all were affected... her life was tattered... she just kept thinkin of her life had she wud have been married... she kept of thinkin of kids she wud have had... movie portrayed brilliantly what could happen... it also showed how a man reacts when he gets to know that her loved one was raped... Rahul Bose just left her to fend for herself... instead of supporting her to overcome trauma, he just ran away from responsibilities... he was more guilty than the rapists...
my frend felt that the movie ended abruptly... she just got lost... and her family kept looking for her... he was cursing the director... but I feel that we need to come out of age where movie has a happy ending... we should understand that such stories never have any ending... it just goes on... how can there be an ending... it just want to make you ponder... and makes you think... The movie left an lasting impression on me... hope we soon have a age where it will be safer for woman to venture out freely without worrying about so-called male supremacy.... :-/

I need a change
I dont think we will have to stress our brains for figuring out when we last heard this statement... Now and then you will heard these four words 'I need a change'... Be it a person who looks like toilin too hard on field or be it a person who has is sitting in a office or a food lover, everyone speaks for a change... Its only the requirement of change which differs... You might want to change your job or you might want to go to a different restaurant... However good the quality of thing, we normally get bored with the same stuff being served... It might look to a person that I am doing quality work but for me its very much possible that I am bored with it and want to do something else... but have also met people who though speaks for a change but when opportunity comes, they step back... may be its because every change brings lots of challenges with it and risks... have also found that such people just dont rise up the ladder and are not able to explore things...
In my case, I should say I have been very lucky as far as change is concerned... Though I am also a bit afraid of taking risks but its the boredom with the existing pattern that I normally accept whatever change is coming my way... Throughout my professional life, it has happened that whenever I feel that I have learnt enough in this field, a new opportunity, a new challenge has come my way... In a little less than 5 years, I have been a marketing engineer, a maintenance engineer, an operations engineer, then a software developer learning mainframe, then developing frontend applications in java, then working on a backend project, the learning Pharma tool Documentum, and then later getting to know of the Validations in pharma industry... phew... I have come a long way....
And on personal side, I am never satisfied with doing same thing for a long period of time... esp if get too interested, then just be aware that I am about to get bored with that stuff... nothing new...
but for me CHANGE IS THE NAME OF GAME... and I am happy to play this game...

Happiness - Is it forever?
Happiness... a term given to an excitation of cells in our body which feels good... but its what we crave for... its what we look for in our life... its what we work for... its what we try to get in life... but we have seen that how much we try, we cant remain aloof from sadness... bad times as we say... just today i was having chat with one of my friend and when I told her that whenever I feel more happy, i know my badtimes are just round the corner... she said similar happens with her... so does it remain with you forever... NO... otherwise how will you recognize the importance of it... you wil loose its very charm... and letme tell you one more thing, reverse also happens but we never remember that... So the best is to enjoy whatever time you get when you are having good feeling... and when bad times come, remember that it wil also not last forever... Even in those bad times you will have some small moments of fun which will give you strength... And you will always have people whom you can rely on... their support will always be there... Quite possible they might not be able to help you out, but even talking to them gives lots of ammunition... And thats how life goes... THIS WHY IT IS CALLED LIFE...

JOR SE BOLO.... HOLI HAI....
... bura na mano if tried to b somewat unconventional... Holi hai... yeah... festival of colors... playin in water... wen i was kid, i used to dislike dis festival... now m yearning for it... may b coz i hated takin off all those 'pukka' colors which were hard to get off... it used 2 take hours to get rid of dat... but for d last few years, i hv been playin wid only gulal, n den evrythng changed... :D... today is Holi n m sittin in US wid no celebrations.. infact i didnt realized until i recieved mails for Holi wishes frm frenz bak in India...
i still remember Holi of last year... which i njoied on a sea beach in Gokarna... it just happened dat we were plng for a trek n we decided to go 4 a moonlight trek on d hills along d beautiful beaches of Gokarna... n coincidently Holi happened 2 b on weekend... sfter a lonnnngggggg travel, we reached Gokarna arnd afternoon... as we had to trek in night in 'chanda mama ki chaon main', we decided to go to beach n hv some fun... so once we were thr, people were like theye were freed after many years in prison... we started to play wid gulal... rubbin on each other's faces... thr were some who were playin holi for d first time n boy, dey were sayin dat u had such a lovely festival.. y dont we hv such festival in South india... den wenever someone thot he had 2 much color, he used to wash his face in waves from sea, but for hw long... again painted red n pink n yellow n blue n green n... :)... oh boy... so much fun playin holi on a beach... wish i wud hv been in India today...

evening walk in Central Park
wow... such a pleasant weather on Saturday after so many weeks... reminded me of blore weather... my roomie asked me whr to go today n i said Central Park.. its around a year here n hv been to this beauty of New York only once n dat was like we say 'matha tekna'.... as expected, streets were full n wen we reached park, it was like a festical... it was all crowded up... just at d entrance, blacks were doing shows... stopped for a moment to watch it n it was indeed nice, except for d fact dat the clothes they wore were horrible...
inside d park, people were just hvng fun... playin football... freezbie.... n man volleyball (my fav)... some were just relaxing on the rocks (reminds me of something)... tryin rock climbin... n wat else... ice rink was empty but people were around... cud b waitin for somethng... den came across a group of skaters... they had some music system of 80s in the centre with some hip-hop music playin n people were dancin around (on skates)... an old lady was doin it perfect...
moved ahead n found again another group of blacks performing... this was much better dan d earlier one... was quite fun... to pull people, they were sayin "Cmon White people, move in front... u dont have to b afraid of 3 black guys.. we wont harm u"... another was.. they asked a child to raise his hand, n den said, we got a volunteer... n lots of pranks in between...
den suddenly i got a call on my cell... thr was supposed to b a project release which I only had planned... so had to leave in between n rush back to home to do work :(

never give up
many a times in my life i hv come across situations whr i had thot dat i shud run away... hv been in situations when i thot dat i cant handle n i shud leave d task incomplete... sometimes even thot of takin extreme steps to get rid of all d worries(yeah...)... dats wat LOOSERS do.... but somehow evrytime dis kind of thot comes 2 mind, thr comes another feelin dat i m not dis type... y cant i do dis... m not a lesser mortal... n i wil not leave dis task until i complete it... dis is d thot which drives me on, keeps me gng n helps me in overcoming difficult times... n dats wat i luv abt myself... never give up...
if u cant do, nobody else can.. n somebody has to do... dats d irony... :-/
if u cant do, nobody else can.. n somebody has to do... dats d irony... :-/
just a thot :)
just a thot which came 2 my mind...
Life is short.... make it sweet n u wil live many lives in one single life...
live life like every moment is precious n never waste these precious moments in grudges...
we hv so much 2 do n so little time... if we keep thinkin abt wat happenned in past, we wont do ne gud to ourself....
another one, was thinkin abt dis...
hard times come but along comes d strength to live those... u only need to recognize d strength.... :)... if not, lookd 4 only one positive thing which u will achieve... hw small it be, it wil give u d strength to pass thru those hard times... believe me dis works.....

Rang De Basanti - Review
I had watched this movie some one month back but even today wen i think abt dis movie, i could not stop admiring it... thr was something abt dis movie... it was not run of d mill type of movie... it was not a usual melodrama... not whr u can imagine wat d end wil b like... not whr it shows wat does not happen in real life... dis was 'jara hat ke'... wat if thr were some pieces which director wud hv done without.... if thr wud hv been no comparison wid d real heroes of yesteryears, d movie might hv looked much better... but like everything, dis cud also be not perfect...
now let me tell u wat i liked in d movie... first, it was d life of college goers which is portrayed... dont bother abt nethng... just chill n hv fun... carefree attitude... dats hw college life in india is... neways who hv learnt nethng frm d courses which were designed some 50 years bak... so relax... den thr was d bonding which unites dem all... all had different opinions but still they were together... d frenship amongst dem was thr 2 see... n now d thing which i liked most... it was d portyal of feelings wen one of frend died in air crash... i mean it is tough to digest dat people take d extreme step of killing d defence minister... i mean d feeling was so strong... many times in our life we think abt killin someone, even for a fraction of second.. or we hope dat dis person shud die... or i shall beat dius guy to death... but in d movie, dis feelin was so strong dat it was coneverted into action... dis also portrays d binding dey all had... (though all were thinking dat they will b appreciated, in India... nah..).
n now d end... many people wanted d end 2 b different... some revolution shud hv happenned n india wud hv become d best country in world.. cmon, wil dis happen in real world... ur voice will b crushed n u wil meet d same fate as shown in d movie.. d revolution wil b suppressed... we believe only wat our (so-called) leaders say... dats wat was portrayed... THIS IS REALITY OF INDIAN POLITICS... though in d movie, it was shown dat thr was awakening sort of, but wait till d politicians buy d media in next few days, n portray wat dey want of d incident... we believe only wat we r told...

NFL SuperBowl
for last few weeks, american football matches were craze wid all my roomies... so y wont dis fever wont touch me... so took few tips frm frenz on hw to understand d game, wat 2 look for n i also joined d gang.... dis weekend on 5th Feb it was NFL final, as they call SuperBowl... NFL is craze over here in US n dis season, it was final between Pittsburg Steelers n Seattle Superhawks... d match started at 6:25 pm... bets went on amongst us on who wil win n so d show started... initially 'hawks' were at d top... attackin.... n almost got thr.... scored first points but had 2 b satisfied with 3 points only.... but den as its said 'sau sunar ki n ek luhar ki' ... steelers scored n dey did a touchdown... scored perfect 7... as gud as it can get... superhawks tried but in vain... after 1st quarter, score was 3-7 in steelers favor....
in between break, thr was 'rockin' performance by rolling stones... man who below d age of 55 wud hv enjoied dat performance... dont want 2 say more abt dat... in second half, again, hawks were like... just thr but never made it... steelers again ran away wid d ball n set up a record for run of 76 yards... man... it was a superb touchdown.... den it was d turn of hawks to do some action... dey also did a touchdown... n scores were 10-14... but den.. again one superb play by steelers saw them reach 21.. n den it was over... hawks had d possession of ball but wen it mattered dey fal;tered n it was a well deservin win for steelers.... scoreline suggest easy win, but it was a keenly contested match...
