Reservation?

Reservation... This topic has surfaced again and as of now this is the hot topic of discussion.... heard that large scale protests are being organized against the proposal to reserve seats in highly prestigious IITs and IIMs.... the institutes which are face of Indian intellectual to the world... I and every other person atleast 2 requests a day for joining a community or signing a petition... Also herad that people have started to sit on hunger strikes all over the country...

But Is this of any use? So many innocnet souls were lost during mandal commission in 1989... but still the bill was passed... it did not had any effect on the political society of India... So which is reason why these lawmakes dont listen to protests from we people... If we look deeply, there is one simple reason.. votebank... Despite constituting majority of population, our vote share is dismal... So which effectively means there is noone to listen to us.... Why should they listen when they are not going to get anything from us... We will keep on protesting like this for days but we cant take out time to vote one day in 5 years... this is the biggest power we have and then these silly and dumb(though they r intelligent enuf to ignore us) politicians will make sure that all decisions are kept taking us in mind... and so such stupid bills are put on table for discussion...

  1. jax...u have no idea wat is happening back there....my bro is a budding dr in mumbai...needless to say from the "open" category....
his friends were in a silent protest against the reservations...they were beaten up...arrested...forced to drink alcohol...so that the police had grounds for arrest....
weird part is even the OBC category doctors are opposing reservations...but the government is trying to milk the caste system in india...
I am feeling terrible and helpless...I am sitting here with a lot of will but total incapability to stop this crap happening in my country...If I ever happen to do a crime, I will surely kill all the politicians in india before going to the gallows...they are dividing the current youth....
Imagine in a team of 10 having 3 people who cannot even do their ABCs properly...:(:(

  2. i agree wid u nd infact i hv been a victim of this reservation system myself... but i still stand by my point dat we open category needs to be a votebank so that the politicians dont take any such decision... dis caste system is being used only coz they r a huge votebank... else y is dat we though constituin majority of population, none of d decision/law/bill is made takin us in mind...
i might not b hvng an clear picture of wats happennin bak in India.. i was a kid wen mandal happenned... but still i remember d protests.. hw protestors near my place were being chased by police... hw they were beaten on road... all dat is still fresh in my mind

  3. @Anon and Jax: My god!! This is crazy!!

Either way, whatver the repurcussions...one has to protest...because we cant just sit and watch such crazy shiy happen...

and worst is, being from the "open" category when u raise ur voice...ppl think you dont want the "others" come forward...but its in th bigger interest of India's development that we protest!

  4. prevention is better than cure.. though if we do catch a disese, one shud not brab abt than we shud hv done dis or dat... rather we shud go all out to cure it.... but thr is lesson to be learnt...

PS: i do hv seen students frm reserved section in my college who joined college at age of 25 or so... nd cud not complete thr engineerin even in 7 yrs.. sole purpose was to get a degree so that they will get better dowry...

  5. I dont think Intelligence or stupidity are based on caste, creed, religion, sex or class...I have seen really intelligent OBCs really dumb open caste people and other way round...If the politicians really want to do something, they should arrange for interest-free loans or more scholarships and opportunities for the lower "class" not "caste" people...I know that there are people in india who cannot "afford" primary education...I would even go a step ahead and say that we can have reservation for that class but at the same grade...I mean if there is a "open" or "economically stable" candidate from urban places who has scored 90% and a "economically backward" fellow from rural background with 90%...one may give preference to the EBC person ..coz he has really given a tougher fight to achieve the same goal...I might even offer this person a scholarship....but caste-based reservation is neither here nor there...When I completed my 12th standard, admissions for engineering were based on your percentile in 12th...In my college there were SC/ST who had free seat despite 50% in 12th standard...and a open category person with 90% had to come thru payment seat...That is disgusting....and forcing that on the private colleges is even worse...If this bill goes thru, the respect for IIT and IIM all over the world is going to go for a toss....and I will surely NOT encourage my kids to study in India.

  6. we're protesting today, and one day we'd protest again...cz i bet soon we'd want reservations for us! our kids wud get a 20% admit in a gen quota in some damn uni. the only issue is votebank that u've already stated. i guess we shud have some exams on the footsteps of IAS for poilitcs as well and then it might happen that things take a different path to a better "unreserved" tomorrow! uneducation of the masses is the result of all evil.
